Friday June 1 - Working Hard in X-Ray

First I have to tell you a prayer experience from yesterday. When we come down to the sleeping area the lights are out from 10 am - 4 pm and 10 pm - 6 am. There are red darkroom lights that help you see in some parts but mostly it is dark, so you have to use a flashlight to read the dials on your combo locks to open your locker. Well I got something out if my locker and then couldn't find my lock anywhere. I must have spent 10 minutes going thru all the shelves and the bags in there and could not find it. So feeling very stressed because you can't leave the locker unlocked because things get taken, I finally thought I needed to pray and ask where it was. As soon as I did it the thought came to me to look on my bed. There it was. I do not remember going over to get anything on it but it was the only thing on my bed. Small but simple prayers get answered.  Jennifer gave the devotional last night. She quoted the scripture Romans 8:31. It talks about if god is before you, you can not fail. She said if we follow the Lord's way  you can succeed in anything.

Today I was in the department the whole day. Jennifer and I worked the same room today. We had a great time together. I am getting pretty good at speaking the basics I need to take. Chest film. For take in a deep breath in and hold it is "Tarik nafas  dalam dalam lo lou tehan". To sit is do duk. Bra is baha. Follow me is ikut saya. I am sure I am killing the pronunciation but they see to get it through trying and a lot of demo and acting. We have a lot of nursing and med students and doctors that speak fairly good English so that helps. Most of the nursing students are our interpreters so it helps they know medicine and the culture.

Went and bought things in the ship store so dad if you want look at the Wells account and see where I am at. I will try and pull it up so will let you know. One of the ladies dropped her camera and didn't bring a check book, so she doesn't have enough cash to buy one at the ship's store. She has a Wells Fargo account out so we will see if we can do a direct transfer or her husband mail a check to the house or drop it off. Will keep you posted on that.

I decided I can do little acts of service, so tonight I loaded 8 rolls of toilet paper into the stalls that where empty and folder all sorted the ladies military clothes that had been dropped off from the laundry. It's pretty easy to match as they all have their last names on the front shirt pocket and the back pants pocket. Took me about 10 mins to sort 20 people's stuff. Just left it in sorted piles so they could just come in and pick it up. Kind of fun to watch their faces as they walk in and see it all sorted. They look really shocked/surprised and not quite sure what is going on.

There is a formal party on the flight deck tonight with a lot of big wig Indonesian people. It looks like I might get off the ship on the 3rd but that is still in the works. They have posted more as a ceremony. One of the ladies went to day and said they have you stand around in the sun all day and there was people fainting for the heat. If I go I will take lots of water and sunscreen and hat. Will keep you posted.

Talked to Matt, Dad and Maddie today. Hope to get phone calls to Steve and Cam in the next few days. If I miss you at work, Cam just post me your school and work schedule for the next week. Will try to hit sometime Sunday also. Thanks for letting me do this. It is wonderful to do something with my profession and help these people in a small way.

Looks like they are trying to plan the Manila trip and we are not sure what it will all entail and costs. Got  a new email for the lead here so need to read it. Mont let me know if you got it and decipher it so we can see what is possible. Love you all and hope to get one picture emailed. Thanks dad for sending off all those emails to the x-ray people. Sent stuff off to their emails today. Need info in the next day from them. Love you.
