Monday 11 June - A Slow Day

It was a pretty slow day in the department. Only 2 ultrasounds and 1 x-ray. We found out today that one of the guys heard yesterday that his grandfather that raised him had died. He will be getting off the ship in Manado and flying out of Samar to Manila then joining the ship in Subic Bay on the beginning of July and flying out to the funeral. He has to pay his own costs to do this so the department is collecting money to help him pay for the costs and money for the funeral. Jen is going to tell our group tonight and see if anyone wants to contribute and then we will give it to the chief to add to the department's collection.

I basically sat around, up loaded my pictures into Jen's computer and put them on the 8 G USB because it would not fit on the 2 G. We had to erase all the music dad had loaded for me but had nowhere else to load it. We tried to up load only part but it would not split the file so we were stuck. Too bad as I was going to upload and listen to it on the flight home from Korea to USA. Kind of dozed on the couch in the department. Talked to a couple of Canadian soldiers and it was fun to talk about the different words they use and places and how Canadians get treated differently when they travel. We are still at the island of Sanghi till tomorrow evening then go to Talaud where I go to a closing ceremony there. I also get to go on an education symposium in the Philippines. They said only one of the NGO's from our department was assigned so I volunteered going to do that the 27 of June. If they don't change things like they do at the last minute. Looks like I may get off about 3 times to go do the chest films on the pier in Philippines.

Tonight at devotional I signed up for a engine room tour and a 1 hour language  class so that will give me something to do.  Thanks for talking to me during dinner. It was nice to talk to all of you at the house even if is only for a few minutes. Love you guys so much and really have learned how much you can rely on those you love and appreciate what you have and who you have. Count those blessings and realize you have so much more than others. Thanks for supporting me in this. Love you all so much.
