Just a bit nervous about leaving for 6 weeks.
My day started with getting 11/2
hours sleep. Said goodbye to Madeleine and Danielle at 3 am. Tried to get on
the I215 on ramp and it was closed - had to get to the airport via 45th on
ramp. Had to park the car and ride the shuttle to the airport. I was the first person from our LDS Humanitarian group to get to the airport.
Met everyone quickly and formed fast friends. My traveling buddy is Trudy Poole, a RN from
Idaho Falls. So many new names and faces but there is an instant bond and
feeling of oneness.
Trip to Los Angeles was smooth and short. I was able able
to sleep the whole way from LA to Hawaii. Felt great to get a good sleep. Had
time to take some pictures and buy a magnet. Was able to talk to everyone at
home one last time. Madeleine seemed to be doing OK and getting ready for her
final choir performance.
Met the rest of the group and had a word of prayer before we boarded for
Guam. I am feeling a bit more at ease with doing this but still worry about the
time. The group who went last year said they were only gone for 2 weeks. There
are some only going for a few weeks this time. Don't know how they did that, but it would have been a great option. I really am doing this and hope I can make a
difference to the people I help.
Hope to be able to keep in touch with the blog.
Caroline
You will and are making a difference Mom. You may not be able to see it with everyone you touch, but there will be many. I know you are making a difference through your example to our family and willingness to serve!
